If terms like “harvesting”, “plowing” and “seeds” seem to be reaching your ears lately, then it isn’t because your friends are converting to hillbillies, but it is all because of FarmVille. Only few people on the planet hardly ever heard of this popular game, a fact due to famous social networks like Twitter and Facebook hosting the game and allowing it to be played by millions of users spreading out across 6 continents.
Playing this game is simple, all you need to do is allow the application to access your information and then define your farmer. Once done with these, the rest is easy to understand, thanks to a self-explanatory interface. The 1st thing you will need to do is plow your land. With the help of the plow tool you can prepare your land for seeding. Seeds are bought from the market and are planted by clicking the plowed land.
Harvesting is equally as simple, because you just need to hover on your crops to check whether they are ready or not, and if the sickle appears, you may harvest your plants for cash. The mastery level, which is a measure unique to every crop and increases with each one’s harvest, receives a boost, thus probably helping you earn one star at least, thus making FarmVille reward you with more cash and experience points (XP).
Aside from planting crops, you can earn cash by planting trees, however, trees do take more time than most crops and only add a minimum of 20-something dollars into your account, which is pennies if you consider how the 2-hour harvest of berries can increase your money by selling for 46 coins. A better way that will take at least a day is fencing in and taking care of animals. FarmVille has a number of animals which can be bought or gifted, like cows and sheep, and some which are exclusive to certain seasons or celebrations, like the clumsy reindeer which was introduced before Christmas.
However, if you’re more interested in advancing in the game rather than increasing your finances, then go for buying things with high XP. Most crops offer an increase of either 1 or 2 XP points, however, by buying buildings like the fruit stand or a lodge, you will gain XP points in thousands. In addition, by visiting other Farmville players, a.k.a. neighbors, you will get 5XP and some cash for being a helpful farmer. Feeding their chickens and fertilizing their lands will do just the same thing as well.
Recently, FarmVille added a new feature called Collections. Through this, you have to collect a set of 6 items, which can be found upon purchasing certain buildings, while working on your own farm or while helping others. Once collected, you will be awarded XP points as well as a small little gift, which can be a 1/5 fuel refill to be used for your machinery (harvester, seeder and plower) or even something bigger like a new accessory for your farm.
So the next time you hear someone complaining about withered crops, just think that the poor guy forgot to login to Farmville on time to harvest his crops.
